Myself (Deborah) and my husband John have many years of experience in owning and running holiday properties. In 2012 we decided to buy Strawberry Cottage. The initial plan was that this would be a bit of a bolt hole for us as a family with a few weeks rental to help cover our costs. However, due to the success of this property and our dream of our son growing up by the sea, we decided to purchase additional properties and move down to West Cornwall lock and stock in September 2013.
All three of us absolutely love it here. The beaches are stunning, the people are friendly and food is magnificent. Plus there’s a lovely relaxed way of life making living here just about perfect.
If you love gorgeous, diverse beaches, rugged landscapes and interesting wildlife then this is the place for you.
Furthermore, there’s just something about this part of Cornwall that feels like you’ve stepped back in time and slowed down to a far more leisurely pace.
Naturally the beaches in summer are fantastic, however, we’ve also been down on the beaches in winter, during gale force winds and had the most fantastic time. We just wrap up warm and then head off to one of the many wonderful little beach side cafe’s for a scrummy hot chocolate afterwards. We particularly love Gwithian Towans, as it’s just a couple of miles from the properties and is National Trust owned (meaning we don’t have to pay to park, as we’re members). We can take the short walk along the coastal path where we’re often rewarded by seeing 6 or 7 seals basking on the beach below. All the beaches of West Cornwall are absolutely stunning and all are between a 10 and 30 minute drive from our properties.
Unique benefits of our properties
Location, location, location! You really are so close to everything in West Cornwall from either of our properties. You will need a car but from here you can be on the beaches in under 10 minutes. Here are the rough times to some of the more well known landmarks: Paradise Park (an award winning wildlife park): 5 minutes (you could actually walk there), Hayle Towans beach: under 10 minutes St Ives: 10 minutes Penzance: 10 minutes Lands End: 20 minutes Flambards: 20 minutes, The Lizard and our favourite beach (Kynance Cove): 30 minutes. The Eden Project: 1 hour.
The choice is yours, whether you use the Tolroy Manor holiday park facilities or just use our cottages as a great base to explore the wonderful beaches and experience some of the interesting and very diverse things to do nearby.
