Our 2 properties are on the Tolroy Manor holiday park. This is a park consisting of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses set in the grounds of an old manor house. The main park is owned by John Fowler Holidays with over 75% of the properties being privately owned.
Tolroy Manor has a fascinating history. It was occupied by the Trevithick family during the 1800s. This family along with the Harvey family of Hayle, were world renowned for their work in developing the high pressure boilers and pumping engines which were paramount in the development of industry across the world. John Harvey Trevithick who lived at the beautiful manor house during the 1800s, came from a famous engineering family. His father Richard Trevithick, whose road locomotive climbed Camborne Hill on Christmas Eve 1801, has been described as “a pioneer of the Industrial Revolution and undoubtedly one of the greatest engineers to have ever lived.” The last member of the Trevithick family to live at Tolroy was in 1941.
Tolroy Manor has grown and developed over the years to become a unique site on the hillside above Hayle, looking towards the sea and St. Ives.
The park now…
For many years this was an unloved park but since 2011 there’s been new park managers who have a great investment plan, that we see taking shape each year. This has in turn encouraged new owners like ourselves who are investing in the properties. So staying at Tolroy Manor just gets better and better each year.
As one of our 2016 guests will testify:
Had a lovely week – Strawberry Cottage is a real home from home. The welcome gift was a lovely surprise and just what we needed after our long journey from York. We have stayed at Tolroy a couple of times before when our boys were children but strawberry cottage exceeds anything we have had before. Thank you for the loan of it, we would love to come back again……Debbie & Geoff

As we have a young son, we thought we’d try the Children’s club and were very pleasantly surprised. The entertainment staff are wonderful and really aim to get to know the children, they had us all laughing and our son absolutely loves it – meaning it’s something we now have to do every time we visit, however, it’s far more enjoyable than we expected, which is a real bonus.
Our properties are great places to stay, whether you intend to use the park facilities or not. Not only are they within 2 miles to the nearest beaches but also are central to all the key places to visit in West Cornwall. In fact we love staying at the park just as much in the winter when the main site is closed down, for bracing walks on the beach and exploring the many pretty little villages nearby.
Tolroy Manor is under 2 miles from the stunning beaches of Hayle and Gwithian Towans. You are also only a couple of minutes (you could actually walk it) to the award winning Paradise Park. This is a family owned wildlife sanctuary with so much to see and do that one visit is never enough. It’s also great for families with young children as there’s an indoor and outdoor play area. so somewhere to go whatever the weather.
